PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob cancelled his meeting with Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin slated for yesterday at the last-minute, claims a Bersatu leader.
Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan said the meeting was supposed to take place at 2.30pm yesterday.
“Bersatu wants the prime minister to respect PN the way he respects Pakatan Harapan.
“I’m worried that Ismail is going back to the ways of the old Umno,” Wan Saiful said at a press conference in Kedah.
Hamzah, who is also the Bersatu secretary-general, was supposed to meet Ismail over the agreement signed between PN and the Umno vice-president before his appointment as the prime minister.
On July 28, had PN voiced its disappointment with Ismail over his failure to fulfil promises he made to the coalition. According to leaked copies of the agreement, a deputy prime minister’s post had been promised to PN lynchpin Bersatu.
Hamzah said the coalition had decided to send a delegation to meet Ismail on the fulfilment of the agreement it struck with him.
