With her father in prison, Najib Abdul Razak’s daughter Nooryana Najwa took to social media and alleged that the former was jailed on “hearsay”.
She also decried how several key persons linked to the SRC International Sdn Bhd case were never called to testify during the trial.
First up, Nooryana (above) pointed out that the alleged mastermind, fugitive businessperson Low Taek Jho (Jho Low) did not testify during the trial at the Kuala Lumpur High Court as he could not be located by the authorities.
She also claimed that an unknown person who forged 20 bank transfer cheques was never found as well.
“The person who recommended to my father to open an account under his own name and was entrusted to monitor it was also not called to testify.
“But the person’s family took close to RM700 million from Low,” Nooryana alleged on Instagram.
With that, she also claimed that a lawyer who prepared the agreements and was purportedly paid money by Low was not charged and did not testify as well.
SRC’s International board members, who purportedly approved payment to the company’s subsidiary Ihsan Perdana, were also not charged or called to testify.
“The bankers who broke the banking code by dealing with non-authorised personnel as well as not sending account statements to Najib, were also not called to testify,” Nooryana added.
Defending her father
She also mentioned several high-profile names who were not called to testify such as former SRC CEO Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil and former minister in the prime minister’s department Nor Mohamed Yakcop.
“So much evidence in this trial is based on hearsay and cannot be verified. The chain of evidence is broken.
“But somehow, the trial proceeded and was tried by a newbie judge with zero criminal court experience. #fightwithfacts,” Nooryana claimed.
It is to note that her allegations were similar to a posting uploaded yesterday on a Facebook account of one named Lim Sian See.
In July 2020, High Court judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali found Najib guilty of seven criminal charges involving RM42 million of funds from SRC International.
The judge then imposed a 12-year jail term and RM210 million fine in lieu of an additional five years imprisonment. Nazlan had since been elevated to the Court of Appeal.
Last year, the Court of Appeal dismissed the Pekan MP’s appeal. The Federal Court affirmed both lower courts’ verdicts three days ago.
Nooryana had been active on her Instagram since the apex court dismissed her father’s appeal. Najib is currently serving time at Kajang Prison.
Following the Federal Court verdict, she took to Instagram and pledged to keep on fighting until justice is done.
Yesterday, she posted that her father is still adjusting to his new schedule as a prison inmate. - Mkini
