PETALING JAYA: It has been 18 months since Farah Azuin Razak, a former Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student, became the victim of alleged sexual harassment by her lecturer.
The 23-year-old is still waiting for justice to be served.
It is learnt that the investigation paper has been returned by the Johor police headquarters to the Tangkak police.
“The last time I asked the investigating officer, he said the investigation paper had been sent back to the Tangkak police for a further probe. I don’t know what else they want to investigate.
“The other witnesses and I have already given our full cooperation.
“The investigation officer even told me there was nothing left for him to do as the investigation paper was already complete,” she told FMT.
Farah, who graduated with a management and business diploma, had lodged a police report against the lecturer in Tangkak on June 2, 2021, and handed over recordings of telephone conversations she had with him.
She claimed that the lecturer had called her at 12.30am to do a survey about sex and had asked her to join him to indulge in self-pleasure.
The lecturer was sacked in September, more than a year after Farah’s report was first lodged.
FMT understands that Johor police are waiting for a report from experts at their police headquarters but it is unclear what the report entails.
It is also understood that the investigation paper from Tangkak police had been submitted to their superiors at the Johor police headquarters in October.
Attempts to reach the Johor police headquarters for confirmation on this have been unsuccessful.
Farah had written an official letter to the Johor police to get an update on their investigation.
“When I asked for the latest status on the case, they called me to ask why I had sent an official letter. They said I could have just called them directly.
“But, in the end, they gave me the same answer (that they are investigating),” she said, adding that she was “tired” of the ordeal.
Meanwhile, the lecturer had filed a suit against Farah on Sept 6 for allegedly exposing his private life and identifying the institution. She denied his allegations, saying his identity had been exposed by netizens.
She said the suit was aimed at intimidating her after she allegedly turned down RM20,000 to “close” the case.
“The other day, my lawyer said it seemed like ‘the other side’ (the lecturer) wanted to continue with the suit.
“I also heard he planned to sue UiTM as he was dissatisfied with UiTM’s action (in sacking him).” - FMT
