Appoint Hadi as opposition leader – Terengganu Amanah Youth chief

 

Terengganu Amanah Youth chief Zamir Ghazali proposed for PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to be made opposition leader in the Dewan Rakyat.

He said this in a statement after congratulating PAS for achieving the best electoral result in the party’s history, bagging 49 parliamentary seats.

"This makes PAS the political party with the most number of MPs this time. So, it is appropriate for a leader from PAS to lead the opposition MPs.

"Certainly, the PAS president is the best person to become opposition leader, which is a ministerial-level position - complete with all its allowances and facilities," said Zamir.

While Hadi is leading PAS, being part of the Perikatan Nasional, the coalition is headed by Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.

Before the polls, Muhyiddin was touted as PN’s prime ministerial candidate.

Touting Hadi’s credentials, Zamir said the former has the experience needed to handle the task – given that the Marang MP had served in that role between 2002 and 2004.

“He should be appointed to the post as it would reflect the overall authority of PAS itself as the party that represents the voice of a significant number of Malay-Muslims in Malaysia,” he stated. - Mkini
