PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has told the Cabinet to focus on solving the problems faced by the public instead of talking about slogans or branding, said communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil.
“People don’t want to hear rhetorics and slogans. In fact, that was the prime minister’s warning… He said that we should not have a new brand,” Fahmi said in an interview on TV1.
“We should focus on solving people’s problems. There are all sorts of problems, and the Cabinet is working hard on solving them.”
Fahmi said the problems included the rising cost of goods and labour shortage.
He said that while a certain degree of creativity would be required to solve these issues, the government would also need to tread carefully as its decisions would have a long-lasting impact.
Fahmi said that apart from fiscal pressures, the government also had to take into consideration existing laws and other constraints.
“Give it some time. If we make the wrong choice or decision, it will affect the public,” he said.
“I am confident that the prime minister and ministers are focused (on what they have to do).” - FMT
