Hannah meets KJ to glean off his experience as minister

PETALING JAYA: Youth and sports minister Hannah Yeoh met with former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin for some insight and input, having held the same portfolio between 2013 and 2018.

Sharing a photo of their meeting on Twitter, Yeoh said she wanted to listen to his ideas and views, and glean off his experience as a former youth and sports minister.

“Thank you for making the time. I believe in inclusive leadership, especially so for a portfolio like youth and sports,” the Segambut MP said.

Yeoh was sworn in as the new youth and sports minister in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Cabinet on Dec 3.

A two-term MP, she had defended her Segambut seat in the Nov 19 polls, winning with a majority of 59,684 votes.

She was previously the deputy women, family and community development minister in the short-lived Pakatan Harapan government led by Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Previously, Yeoh had met Khairy’s successor, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, to hear from the Muda president on his experience as youth and sports minister.

“Always good to be warned of mistakes I can avoid, especially by those who have walked a similar journey,” she had said on Dec 17. - FMT
