Juhar retained as Sabah governor

 

Juhar Mahiruddin was given his appointment letter by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah at Istana Negara today.

PETALING JAYA: Juhar Mahiruddin has been reappointed as Sabah’s governor for a fourth term.

Juhar was first appointed the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah in January 2011.

His tenure was meant to end after two terms (eight years) but he was reappointed to the position in 2018 after the Warisan government amended the Sabah Constitution to remove the governorship’s two-term limit.

Juhar will remain in office until Dec 31, 2024, and is set to hold the post for more than 10 years.

His letter of appointment was handed to him by the King at Istana Negara this afternoon, witnessed by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

It was also attended by chief secretary to the government Zuki Ali, Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani and Senate president Rais Yatim. - FMT
