PETALING JAYA: Health minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa is set to meet representatives of the Hartal Doktor Kontrak group.
According to Utusan Malaysia, Zaliha’s political secretary, Napsiah Khamis, said the group had been contacted but that a time and date for the meeting had yet to be set.
“The meeting will be held behind closed doors,” she was quoted as saying.
A spokesman for Hartal Doktor Kontrak, Dr Muhammad Yassin, said the meeting could potentially take place next week.
“The meeting is expected to cover issues faced by contract doctors such as permanent positions as well as the health commission and the ministry’s long-term plan,” the Malay daily quoted him as saying.
Hartal Doktor Kontrak has been demanding transparency in the criteria and selection of contract doctors along with the same perks granted to permanent doctors.
The group continues to push for hazard leave and cancer leave to be provided for contract doctors. - FMT
