PETALING JAYA: A Sarawak PKR leader has urged deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof to include its representatives in any endeavour to settle demands related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
PKR deputy secretary-general Tay Wei Wei said Fadillah should involve all parties in the unity government in the matter, adding that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had already proven his sincerity in wanting to fulfil the MA63.
“Sarawak PKR has representatives with experience and expertise involving MA63, including lawyer and former assemblyman Dominique Ng.
“PKR was also among the first parties to promise to restore (Sabah and Sarawak’s) rights under MA63, which can be proven by Sarawak PKR’s manifesto in the recent general election (GE15),” he said in a statement.
Tay is also the Sri Aman PKR chief. He had contested for the Sri Aman seat in GE15 but lost to Doris Sophia Brodi of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
After announcing his Cabinet on Dec 1, Anwar had tasked Fadillah, who is the first deputy prime minister from East Malaysia, with ensuring that all pending matters related to MA63 would be expedited.
Fadillah, a senior vice-president in GPS lynchpin Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), said he had been given one month to settle unresolved demands related to MA63. - FMT
