King, Queen express condolences to families of Batang Kali landslide victims

 

The King and Queen also expressed the highest gratitude and appreciation to the members of departments and agencies involved in the search and rescue operations.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah today expressed their condolences to all the families of the victims who perished in the landslide in Batang Kali, Selangor earlier today.

In a posting on Istana Negara’s official Facebook page, they also expressed sadness over the tragedy and hoped that the families would be patient and resolute in facing such a challenging and sad time.

The King and Queen also expressed the highest gratitude and appreciation to the members of departments and agencies involved in the search and rescue operations and hoped that the operations would run smoothly and safely.

“Their Majesties also pray that Allah will ease everything for the rescue team and that the victims who are still trapped can be rescued as soon as possible,” it said.

As at 6pm, the death toll stood at 19 with 14 people still missing.

Selangor sultan’s condolences

The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, have expressed their sadness and sympathy over the landslide tragedy.

The royal couple expressed their condolences to all the victims and relatives of the families involved.

The sultan said he was shocked and saddened when informed about the incident that claimed many lives. - FMT
