PETALING JAYA: Melaka chief minister Sulaiman Ali has warned that he will show the door to any heads or officers of state departments who fail to perform their duties, pledging that there will be no compromise in this matter.
He said the poor performance had indirectly affected the work of elected representatives trying to resolve problems faced by the people.
“I have already mentioned in the assembly that those who do not want to work must go elsewhere.
“Do not trouble assemblymen trying to settle the problems of the people by not doing your jobs, including not answering telephones or messages,” Bernama quoted him as saying when winding up the debate on the 2023 budget at the Melaka state assembly meeting here.
Sulaiman (BN-Lendu) said among others, heads of departments had failed to attend meetings or sent their representatives to resolve matters relating to people’s grievances.
“I was also affected at the office of the state assembly’s development and coordination committee when the officer concerned did not attend a meeting. He also did not have the minutes of the meeting as the representatives kept changing.
“All these burden elected representatives,” Sulaiman said.
Twenty-six assemblymen passed the 2023 Supply Enactment Bill, which was tabled on Monday.
Two assemblymen were absent from today’s meeting. They were Jailani Khamis (BN-Rembia) and Siti Faizah Abd Azis (BN- Sungai Rambai). - FMT
