A live TV talk show featuring Islamic preacher Ridhuan Tee Abdullah tomorrow night has been cancelled by RTM, ostensibly upon instructions from the minister.
Ridhuan confirmed the matter to Malaysiakini when contacted but declined to elaborate.
“It’s true,” he said.
Earlier, a screenshot was circulated showing Ridhuan informing a WhatsApp group about the cancellation.
“I just received a notice from RTM that I’m not allowed to appear on TV1. Minister’s orders,” he told the group.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil declined to comment when contacted by Malaysiakini.
Meanwhile, the Malay language daily Kosmo! quoted Ridhuan expressing regret over the cancellation of the show ‘Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam’ (Premier Forum on Islamic Affairs) where he was slated to be a panellist.
He also expressed sadness that the weekly programme has also been cancelled because of his scheduled appearance.
“Forum Perdana has been cancelled. I just got the notice from RTM. I am not allowed to appear,” he was quoted as saying. - Mkini
