Probe legitimacy of Sng’s presidency, PBM leader tells RoS

Haniza Talha (left) says PBM’s general assembly had decided to elect Zuraida Kamaruddin for the post of party president.

PETALING JAYA: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) deputy president Haniza Talha has urged the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to investigate Julau MP Larry Sng’s legitimacy as party president.

The Lembah Jaya assemblyman said the party’s top leadership has “fully rejected” Sng’s presidency.

“We urge the registrar to investigate Sng’s legitimacy as president following the party’s general assembly that decided to elect Zuraida Kamaruddin for the post,” she said in a statement today.

Haniza claimed that Sng was using the party as a mere stepping stone to obtain influence and position at national level while disregarding the values upheld by the party.

This comes after Zuraida criticised Sng yesterday over the way he is managing the party, calling him “immature and arrogant”.

She said Sng had failed to think rationally while discharging his duties, and that the majority of PBM members she spoke to did not agree with what he had done.

“His shallow attitude in revealing internal party matters on social media as well as his ‘flip-flopping’ statements have tarnished PBM’s image and have annoyed members.

“He should have spoken to the party members first before he made any decisions,” she said.

Zuraida also claimed that Sng had “threatened” other PBM leaders on the grounds that he had signed their watikah (appointment letter of candidates) for the recent general election.

She said she had been made PBM’s “president-designate” when she joined the party in June, but Sng had backtracked on his promise to hand over the position.

“I leave it to the PBM members and the RoS,” she said.

During GE15, only Sng managed to secure victory in Julau.

PBM had contested the Ampang, Hulu Selangor, Kapar and Labuan parliamentary seats but lost. - FMT
