Wan Rosdy holds highest number of portfolios in Pahang govt

Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has been given the highest number of portfolios in the newly formed state government.

It was announced this morning that the Jelai assemblyperson was put in charge of the portfolios for planning, finance, land, natural resources, energy and water, economic development, plantation and commodities.

Meanwhile, former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's son Mohd Nizar was handed the investment, industrial, science, technology and innovation portfolios.

Benta assemblyperson Mohd Soffi Abd Razak, who is also the Pahang government's senior exco, is responsible for agriculture, agro-based industries, biotechnology and education.

Another senior exco Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad, who is also the Kerdau assemblyperson, holds the portfolios for Islamic affairs, rural development and Orang Asli affairs.

There is also Bebar assemblyperson Mohammad Fakhruddin Mohd Ariff who is in charge of the public works, transport and health portfolios.

For Felda affairs, cooperatives and entrepreneurs, they will be held by Muadzam Shah assemblyperson Razali Kassim while the Pelangai assemblyperson Johari Harun will be responsible for the local government, housing, environment and green technology portfolios.

Guai assemblyperson Sabariah Saidan and Dong assemblyperson Mohd Fadzli Mohamad Kamal, who are both first-time representatives, are also listed as excos in the Pahang government.

Sabariah was placed in charge of the portfolios for community welfare as well as women and family development while Fadzli will handle the portfolios for communications and multimedia, youth, sports and NGOs.

Two Pakatan Harapan representatives have also been appointed as excos - Sim Choon Siang (Teruntum) and Leong Yu Man (Triang).

Sim was entrusted with the consumer affairs and human resources portfolio, while Leong holds the portfolios for unity, tourism and culture.

MB hopes for effective teamwork

In a press conference after the announcement of the new exco line-up, Wan Rosdy said he hoped all parties could set aside their political sentiments and ideological differences so that they could work as a solid team.

He also urged the people of Pahang to give the new excos a chance and to trust them for the sake of the state's stability and prosperity.

"It is the time for us to open a new chapter towards mature politics and to celebrate the differences between all of us in an atmosphere of racial and religious diversity so that we can continue to live in safety, peace and harmony.

"We need to work well (together) because, in the next four to five years, we will be facing another general election," the menteri besar said.

In GE15, BN won 16 seats in the state assembly while Perikatan Nasional won 17 and Harapan obtained eight.

However, the Pahang government was formed after BN agreed to cooperate with Harapan.

BN won their 17th seat after winning the Tioman by-election on Dec 7. - Mkini
