Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has requested the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to further lower open-tier ticket prices for upcoming Mitsubishi Electric AFF Cup 2022 matches at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
The call was made about 24 hours after ticket prices for two tournament matches involving the Malaysian team were reduced, following complaints from the public.
"Thank you @FAM_Malaysia for reducing ticket prices, but please consider reducing the price of the open tier to boost the attendance of sports fans and promote sports culture," Yeoh (above) tweeted.
FAM yesterday announced a cut in ticket prices for the tournament’s two group-stage matches against Laos and Singapore.
Malaysia will face Laos on Dec 24 and later Singapore on Jan 3.
FAM said the reduction in ticket prices was made after taking into account the complaints of Harimau Malaya supporters.
"Hopefully, this reduction in ticket prices will reduce the burden on supporters who wish to attend the two matches," it added.
Below are the new prices:
Grand stand - RM70 (Original price: RM100)
Premium - RM60 (Original price: RM70)
Open - RM45 (Original price: RM50)
Children - RM10 (unchanged)
