PETALING JAYA: Annuar Musa says former Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin has joined his Muafakat Nasional NGO.
In a Facebook post, the former Umno stalwart thanked Zuraida for visiting him at his office.
“Thank you also for joining Muafakat Nasional,” said the former Ketereh MP.
In a separate Facebook post, Annuar said he paid a visit to former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the Perdana Leadership Foundation.
Annuar said he exchanged views with the Pejuang chairman during their meeting.
On Monday, Annuar said Muafakat Nasional, of which he is the president, received over 10,000 online applications despite being open for registration just the day before.
Muafakat Nasional has the same name as the former political alliance between Umno and PAS formed in 2019, a year after Pakatan Harapan had taken power as the federal government.
Annuar previously said the NGO was aimed at fostering cooperation and unity among the Islamic community and strengthening the political system based on the Rukun Negara and Federal Constitution.
Last month, an aide of Annuar clarified that Muafakat Nasional was not a political party but was registered as an NGO with the Registrar of Societies.
Annuar was expelled from Umno last week for being critical of party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and for allegedly helping the party’s rivals in the recent general election (GE15). Annuar, a longtime Ketereh MP, was not fielded as a candidate. - FMT
