Well Crazy Ivan and Uncle Sam had a sort of shootout yesterday over the Black Sea, too close to the Russian border. The Americans sent an MQ9 drone aka Reaper on a surveillance mission (obviously over Ukraine and Russia). The Russians sent up an SU27 jet fighter which "acted aggressively" which forced the Americans to crash their own drone into the Black Sea.
The Americans made a ridiculous claim that the Russian plane "crashed" into their drone - like committing suicide - which caused their drone to crash. However despite the 'suicidal crash' the Americans say that the Russian fighter jet managed to land safely at its airbase. The Russian plane was not damaged. So says the American airforce guy in the video. He also admits that the US airforce was forced to ditch the Reaper drone into the Black Sea. Ivan 1 - Uncle Sam 0.
The Russians strongly denied that their fighter jet attempted a suicidal crash with the American drone. The video says the Russian SU27 deliberately dumped jet fuel in front of the drone which possibly disabled the drone and made it go haywire. This is what they say.
I think the Russians have figured out a way to take down these nosy drones from close proximity - possibly by electronic jamming. Here is the video :
The cost of a Reaper drone is roughly RM130 million. The drone can travel at a top speed of 275 mph and is capable of flying continuously for up to 34 hours.
What I find interesting is the statement by Russia:
Indeed 'What are they doing thousands of kms from the US?'
This could be the beginning of a new strategic policy by both Russia and China to make the Yankees go home. China is already slowly evicting the US Navy from the western Pacific.
