PETALING JAYA: A policeman on patrol duty at Taman Medan here was slapped with a traffic summons for making an abrupt U-turn and crashing into another car.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Fakhrudin Hamid said an investigation paper was opened over the incident.
“The driver of the police patrol car was issued a summons for careless driving,” he said in a Facebook post today.
“We would like to advise all road users to be cautious when driving and not drive dangerously. We urge all to report such incidents, including those committed by the police.”
In footage filmed on a dashcam, the patrol car was seen speeding across two lanes from the shoulder of Jalan PJS 3/9 into the path of a car.
The car was able to stop on time but was clipped by the police vehicle.
The video received many comments on TikTok, with most saying the car was not in the wrong, but the police car was.
TikTok user Muhammad Ikhmal said the policeman at the wheel should be given a lecture on safe driving by his superiors. - FMT
