The MACC has denied allegations that two of its senior officers are the masterminds behind a corruption and abuse of power case involving a corporate company.
The MACC said that it has recorded the statements of the two officers, who will also lodge a police report refuting the allegations.
It said that the claims published in an anonymous blog were an attempt to tarnish the commission’s reputation.
“MACC is confident that the matter is a wild and irresponsible accusation that was deliberately thrown at MACC officials to create a negative perception of the commission.
“If there is evidence (to back such claims), relevant parties should come forward to lodge a complaint or report it to the enforcement authorities and not make accusations through social media behind a false identity,” it said in a statement.
The commission said it would not succumb to pressure from any party seeking to divert attention from the corruption and money laundering cases it was investigating.
It added that investigation papers would not be opened arbitrarily without evidence and facts. - Mkini
