MOH to probe another case of 'wrongful attire' hospital entry ban

The Health Ministry will probe an allegation that a woman was denied entry at a hospital in Kuantan, Pahang because of her attire.

The allegation was raised by a Twitter user who uploaded a video clip depicting a security guard preventing a woman in pants that covered her knees from entering what was presumably a hospital.

Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni (above) responded to the tweet by stating that this should not happen.

"I will look into this matter. It should not have happened. Thank you for informing the Health Ministry," he said.

In the clip, the middle-aged woman appeared silent while a man who recorded the video clip appeared to be arguing with the security guard.

According to the narration in the clip, the "hospital management" had denied her entry.

In February, the Kampar hospital denied a female student treatment because of her attire. She was only treated after she changed into long pants.

At the time, Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa had reminded healthcare workers to uphold their Hippocratic Oath and treat patients in need of urgent medical care. - Mkini
