Pahang regent visits Greenpeace's Rainbow Warrior

Greenpeace's Rainbow Warrior yacht received a visit from Pahang regent Tengku Hassanal Sultan Abdullah on Saturday.

After visiting the vessel, Tengku Hassanal wrote on his Instagram page that he supported Greenpeace's Climate Justice campaign.

It is understood that Tengku Hassanal visited the vessel on his own accord.

In a statement today, Greenpeace Malaysia said it was a pleasure to have Tengku Hassanal onboard the Rainbow Warrior.

“Your spirit driven by meaningful action brings hope for a movement toward climate justice.

We look forward to seeing you again,” said Greenpeace Malaysia.

Greenpeace’s Climate Justice is aimed at raising awareness on how climate change affects people unequally and sustainable living.

Part of their campaign involved conducting public tours of the Rainbow Warrior, currently moored off Port Klang’s passenger terminal.

Visits to the Rainbow Warrior was part of Greenpeace’s efforts to highlight environmental issues such as air and plastic pollution as well as deforestation while conducting their public tours.

The vessel arrived on March 16 and will depart on March 28. The next public tour will be held on March 25 and March 26.

Christened in 2011, the Rainbow Warrior is a purpose-built yacht owned and operated by Greenpeace intended for environmental protests and scientific excursions, among others. - Mkini
