The police have recorded statements from nine individuals in the case where an elderly man was allegedly beaten by a Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) officer during a stray dog-capturing operation.
According to district police chief Fakhrudin Hamid, the individuals include witnesses who saw the incident unfold.
"We are wrapping up the probe and the investigation paper will be sent to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC)," Fakhrudin told the media in a text message.
It was earlier reported that the elderly man, who was allegedly injured in the incident at Taman Kanagapuram in Petaling Jaya last week, was being investigated for obstructing government officials from carrying out their duties.
The 69-year-old had reportedly tried to stop two MBPJ officers from capturing what he claimed were his pet dogs. In the process, he alleged that he was hit on the left side of his face with the dog-catching rod of one of the officers.
Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung has called for a probe into the matter.
Besides the man, the officer involved in the incident is also being probed by the police for allegedly causing hurt to the man. - Mkini
