KUALA LUMPUR: This is “selective political prosecution,” says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin of his six charges for abuse of power and money laundering.
Reading from a prepared statement to the media here after being charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Friday (March 10), the former prime minister said that the charge was for an alleged abuse of power.
“I was not charged with receiving bribes for myself. That is because after they conducted their investigations, they could not find a single cent of the public’s money that entered my pocket throughout my duration as prime minister.
“This is vastly different from accusations that I had apparently swindled RM600bil of the economic stimulus package during the height of the pandemic,” he said.
