KUALA LUMPUR: Two men who were involved in a brawl at the popular Pelita Nasi Kandar restaurant in Cyberjaya will be charged at the Sepang Magistrate Court tomorrow.
The duo, both aged 51, are expected to face multiple charges under the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, insulting the modesty of a person, mischief, and causing injury by dangerous weapons.
It was reported that two of the restaurant workers were injured after they were beaten up by three customers who were believed to be drunk.
Following the incident, one of the victims sustained bruising and injuries to his neck, head, left shoulder and ear as a result of being repeatedly hit by the main suspect.
Another worker who tried to stop the assault also suffered injuries.
The incident allegedly happened after one of the men was ticked off for using his fingers to take food on display at the counter.
A video of the assault went viral after the incident, sparking nationwide outrage against the drunk trio.
In the video, two men were seen assaulting a worker in the restaurant premises, damaging furniture, appliances and cutlery.
Police managed to arrest all three suspects at two separate locations soon after the incident.
Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said that the complainant, who is the manager of the restaurant, claimed that the establishment suffered losses because of the damage caused by the assault, including food being spoiled and having to be thrown away.
Wan Kamarul Azran said initial investigations revealed that two of the suspects, who work as a tour guide and a taxi driver, have criminal records for criminal and drug-related offences. - NST
