Zahid gets passports permanently to travel overseas

 

The Court of Appeal today to allowed deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to keep his personal and diplomatic passports with him permanently.

PUTRAJAYA: Deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is facing 47 corruption charges in the Kuala Lumpur High Court, can now travel overseas without the court’s permission.

This follows the Court of Appeal’s ruling today to allow the Umno president to keep his personal and diplomatic passports with him permanently.

A three-member bench chaired by Hanipah Farikullah allowed Zahid’s application after the court was satisfied it had jurisdiction to hear the matter.

“The application for the passports to be released to him is allowed,” she said.

Deputy public prosecutor Abdul Malik Ayob told the bench he had instructions not to object to the application.
