PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested four students from a secondary school in Sarawak on suspicion of assaulting a fellow student.
Kota Samarahan police chief Brodie Brangka said the students were detained after the victim filed a report on Monday evening.
Brodie said the victim, a Form 1 student, was assaulted by four male students from the same school.
“Initial investigations revealed the incident took place behind a shoplot in Taman Desa Permai, Kota Samarahan,” he said in a statement.
“All the suspects were taken to the Kota Samarahan police headquarters for investigation and further action.”
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, an offence that carries imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, if convicted.
Brodie said the public was advised not to share the video recording and refrain from speculating about the incident to avoid disrupting the ongoing investigation.
