Mere speculation, Terengganu PH says on Ahmad Said being poster boy

Terengganu PH chairman Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah (left) said statements regarding the poster boy for Terengganu, including support for Umno chief Ahmad Said, were merely the personal views of individuals.

PETALING JAYA: Terengganu Pakatan Harapan has distanced itself from the state PKR chapter’s preparedness to back a former menteri besar as the “poster boy” for the impending polls.

The coalition’s state chairman, Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah said seat negotiations for the state polls had yet to be completed and that there had been no discussion on who should be the poster boy or even the menteri besar candidate.

“Whatever announcement made on the poster boy for Terengganu has nothing to do with PH or our discussions with Barisan Nasional. It is just speculation,” he said in a statement.

Earlier today, FMT reported that Terengganu PKR was ready to support state Umno chief Ahmad Said as “poster boy” for the unity government in the coming state elections.

Terengganu PKR state committee member Azan Ismail said they were prepared to back Ahmad as long as the latter was ready to have his photograph displayed next to Anwar Ibrahim’s.

Azan said Anwar would be the “face” of the unity government at the national level while Ahmad would be the “face” at the state level.

Terengganu BN had previously said it wanted Ahmad as the unity government’s face in the upcoming state elections and that it would propose him for menteri besar if it succeeded in winning Terengganu.

Raja Bahrin said statements made regarding the poster boy for Terengganu were merely the personal views of individuals and not the decision of Terengganu PH.

He added that if PH and BN could not come to a consensus on the menteri besar candidate once seat negotiations were completed, they were likely to decide on this based on the election results.
