KUALA LUMPUR: Former Perlis menteri besar Azlan Man will make representations to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) for a review of the false claims and money laundering charges he is facing.

Lawyer, Burhanudeen Abdul Wahid, who represents Azlan, notified the sessions court here of this during case management today.

He also said the defence had yet to receive trial documents from the prosecution.

“I need to look into those documents and seek further instructions,” Burhanudeen said.

Judge Azura Alwi fixed Sept 8 for next mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Zander Lim appeared for the prosecution.

Earlier today, Azlan maintained his “not guilty” plea to all five false claims charges brought under Section 18 of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.

The charges were transferred from the sessions court in Kangar, Perlis, to the Kuala Lumpur sessions court last month.

Azlan is accused of submitting false overseas travel claims amounting to more than RM1.18 million between 2013 and 2017.

If found guilty, Azlan faces a jail term that of up to 20 years and a minimum fine of five times the value of the claims.

Azlan was also slapped with another five counts of money laundering amounting to RM1.06 million, which he is accused of receiving from two tour companies between 2014 and 2017. - FMT
