Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin is mulling taking legal action against parties that reported about his house being 'raided' by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
Commenting on the matter, the Perikatan Nasional secretary-general also questioned the definition of raid when it came to the checks conducted in his residence earlier this week.
"What does raid mean... who used the term raid? A lot of slanders have been levelled against me.
"I do not want to answer such slanderous news being spread around the country," Berita Harian quoted the former home minister as saying after the launch of PN's election machinery in Marang, Terengganu, last night.
What is certain, Hamzah added, is that he would act on the matter when the time comes.
"I have told my officer to compile all news reports and social media posts (on the 'raid'), and when the time comes, I will use them,” he said, in reference to the gathered material for legal purposes.
Hamzah claimed that the attacks against him and the PN leadership are slander to ruin their reputation ahead of the upcoming six-state elections.
He further pledged to clear his name in the state polls.
It was recently reported that IRB officers visited Hamzah's house in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, and seized files and documents pertaining to accounts and asset ownership. The Larut MP was reportedly at home during the operation.
Bersatu supreme council member Saifuddin Abdullah dubbed the incident a "cheap political stunt" by the government ahead of the state elections. - Mkini
