Former Umno leader Khairy Jamaluddin met with Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin today, amid continued speculation over his political future.
However, no details have emerged as to what was discussed during the meeting.
Bersatu has offered the former Rembau MP a supreme council post if he joins them, while Perikatan Nasional has big plans in store for him for the six state elections.
Meanwhile, Khairy's presence at an economic meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim last week appears to have inspired hoaxers to create a fake offer letter for him to join PKR.
The letter, dated today, and purportedly signed by PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, offers to appoint Khairy as the party's "appointed" deputy president if he joins.
PKR does not have such a position, and party leaders have informed Malaysiakini that the letter is fake.
"The font is wrong," PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said briefly when contacted.
Khairy (above, right) was sacked from Umno in January during a purge against party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's rivals.
He previously said that he has received a number of offers to join political parties, including Bersatu.
However, he said he was not ready to make a decision.
The former health minister later toyed with the idea of forming his own party. - Mkini
