KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating an incident involving a motorcyclist who crashed into a vehicle after going against traffic flow to avoid a police roadblock after a video of the getaway attempt went viral yesterday.
Sungai Buloh police chief Superintendent Shafa'aton Abu Bakar said the motorcyclist tried to escape as his road tax and vehicle insurance had expired, in addition to not having a driver's licence.
"Early investigation found that the incident occurred on June 24 at 6.17pm involving a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle which crashed into the front side of a Proton Persona car after turning back and going against traffic flow.
"Due to the crash, the motorcyclist sustained minor scratches and was treated at a nearby clinic. Both motorists involved in the crash have lodged police reports at the Sungai Buloh police headquarters," she said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
