PETALING JAYA: Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional have agreed to form a joint election machinery to help their candidates in all 36 state seats.
Negeri Sembilan PH secretary Cha Kee Chin and his BN counterpart, Hasim Rusdi, said the coalitions held their first meeting on the matter on Monday.
“Both coalitions gave their full commitment to maximise their strength in all 36 seats (for the state election),” they said in a statement.
They agreed to appoint coordinators for all the 36 seats.
They said the initiative was in line with the coalitions’ efforts to get a mandate from the voters at the upcoming state election.
Negeri Sembilan is one of the six states holding state elections later this year. The others are Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
PH formed the state government in Negeri Sembilan after winning 20 seats at the 14th general election in 2018. BN won 16 seats.
Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun recently said he expected the state assembly to dissolve automatically on July 2, with polls to be held 60 days within that date. - FMT
