PETALING JAYA:
Police arrested an Egyptian national on Thursday after he was alleged to have issued death threats against his landlord, a woman in her 70s, at a house in the Kg Muhibbah People’s Housing Programme in Bukit Jalil.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said the 12.49am arrest followed a report lodged by the woman at 7.41pm the previous evening, saying the man, who rented a room from her, had threatened to kill her and burn the house down.

“Cheras police arrested the Egyptian national, a man in his 20s, at the scene. We found that he did not have valid travel documents,” he said in a statement today.

Fadil said the man has been remanded until April 11. Besides the lack of travel documents, the case is also being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

In a separate statement, Cheras police chief Rosdi Daud said police had arrested a man in his 20s on Wednesday for assaulting another man in his 60s in Taman Midah, Cheras.

He said police received a report from the victim on Tuesday night, saying the suspect attacked him with a rock and piece of wood.

“At around 9.30pm on Wednesday, police arrested the man on Jalan Peel. Upon investigation, we found that he had a criminal record. The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code (for assault),” he said. - FMT
