Cops nab 67 people in anti-gambling raids in Sabah, Selangor

 Police arrested 67 people in anti-gambling raids in Selangor and Sabah over the past two days, says Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director M Kumar.

He said the raids targeted entertainment centres, online gaming operations and e-sports centres that operated beyond the scope of their permits.

Kumar said police arrested 52 people, including 26 foreigners, in Seri Kembangan and Klang Utara, Selangor. Among the items seized were nine televisions, 95 tablets, 17 laptops and RM9,873 in cash.

“Preliminary investigations found that none of the raided premises had valid business or entertainment licences,” he said in a statement.

In Sabah, police arrested 15 people in Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and Sandakan. Ten of those arrested were gamblers aged between 20 and 68, and the remaining five were caretakers of premises.

Police confiscated 38 computers and RM6,680 in cash, among others.

Kumar said the gambling syndicates operated from business premises disguised as family entertainment and e-sports centres. - FMT
