46 crashes, 11 deaths during RXZ bike rally

 Police record 11 fatal crashes from the four-day gathering, while five were serious accidents and the remaining 30 were minor.

All 11 fatal accident cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.

KUALA LUMPUR:

A total of 46 road accidents involving motorcyclists were recorded from July 30 to last Sunday during the RXZ Members 8.0 gathering in Terengganu.

Bukit Aman traffic investigation and enforcement department director Hasbullah Ali said there were 11 fatal crashes while five were serious accidents and the remaining 30 were minor.

A total of 44 male and two female victims were involved, with 19 of them aged 21 to 30; 10 aged 18 to 20; nine aged 41 to 50; and eight aged 31 to 40.

In a statement, Hasbullah said there were 21 cases of rear-end collisions, followed by skidding (15), side collisions (seven) and vehicle grazing (three).

All 11 fatal accidents are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.

“Among the contributing factors are negligence, failure to control the vehicle, tailgating and unsafe riding,” he said. - FMT
