Sanusi sends Nga, Marina legal letters over ‘distorted’ remarks

 PN leader gives them seven days to apologise, says several more will receive letters of demand for allegedly twisting remarks he made at a ceramah.

PN election director Sanusi Nor claimed that DAP deputy chairman Nga Kor Ming and former Skudai assemblyman Marina Ibrahim had distorted his remarks on the Malays and Tanah Melayu.

Perikatan Nasional election director Sanusi Nor has sent letters of demand to DAP deputy chairman Nga Kor Ming and former Skudai assemblyman Marina Ibrahim for purportedly distorting his remarks on the Malays and Tanah Melayu.

Sanusi said another letter of demand had been served on one Salim Abd Rahman, adding that he wanted the trio to apologise within seven days for twisting the remarks he made at a ceramah during the Negeri Sembilan election campaign.

He said lawsuits would be filed if they failed to do so, Berita Harian reported.

“Today, the letters of demand were served on Nga and Salim. Marina will receive it tomorrow if we cannot serve it on her today,” said the Kedah menteri besar.

Sanusi, who is also PAS election director, said several more people would also receive letters of demand for twisting his remarks, adding that there was “a long list of names”.

“Those who distorted the facts, added to my statement, or took advantage of my statement will receive a letter of demand.

“We are giving them seven days to apologise. Otherwise, we will meet in court,” he said.

Sanusi stirred controversy during the Negeri Sembilan election campaign after suggesting that certain ethnic groups in Malaysia could fall back on ancestral homelands outside the country.

The two-term menteri besar was reported to have said that “the Chinese have China, the Indians have India, the Cambodians have Cambodia, and the Malays only have Malaysia”.

He, however, denied that his remarks were intended to question the citizenship or rights of Malaysian Chinese and Indians.

Police launched an investigation over his remarks and recorded his statement on Sunday. - FMT
