KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 — The Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) tonight named lawyer Sreekant Pillay as its second independent candidate for the coming general elections.
He joins fellow lawyer and civil rights activist Malik Imtiaz Sarwar who was named earlier on December 12.
The announcement was made at the London-registered society’s first public forum in the country.
Like Malik, Sreekant (picture) is representing the Selangor state government in the Teoh Beng Hock inquest that will be decided on January 5 next year.
The lawyer is the eldest son of noted journalist, the late M.G.G. Pillai.
