When Utusan reports, "Oh we have found Altantuya’s murderer" ...

Umno mouthpiece Utusan doesn't dare mention "Altantuya"
KEPALA BATAS — DAP today accused Umno mouthpiece Utusan Malaysia of false reporting over an article suggesting an alliance between the party and the Singaporean government.

Utusan Malaysia published an article today claiming that DAP had divulged classified information on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Sodomy II trial to Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.

Whistleblower website WikiLeaks had recently released leaked US diplomatic cables on Malaysia, which quoted Lee as expressing belief that Anwar had engaged in sodomy despite being fully aware that it was a “trap” set by his political enemies.

“These are just lies, Utusan is lying again. I am not even surprised,” said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today.

“What type of proof do they have to even suggest that we have that kind of relationship with Singapore?”

Lim dismissed the latest Utusan attack as an attempt by Umno to create tension between Anwar and the top DAP leadership.

“At the rate they are going, next thing Utusan will come out with an article saying ‘oh we have found Altantuya’s murderer, it is DAP, they did it,’” added Lim.

Yesterday, ex-PKR MP Zulkifli Noordin also alleged that the top DAP leadership shared a “cosy” relationship with the minister mentor, and that Lee had met with Lim and several DAP leaders shortly after Election 2008.

“I am sure that the DAP leadership is aware of Lee Kuan Yew’s remarks. Karpal Singh had on October 22, 1997 told Parliament that he had sworn declarations of several people who have claimed to have been sodomised by Anwar. Karpal had even asked for the government back then to investigate the matter,” said Zulkifli in a blog post yesterday.

Anwar is currently facing the second sodomy trial in his career after a former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, accused him of the act in 2008.

Sodomy is illegal in Malaysia and carries a jail sentence of up to 20 years. Anwar was jailed for six years in 1999 on charges of corruption and sodomy but was later freed in 2004.
