Khusrin says not told of meeting with MB

Khusrin: I only learned about it through the media.
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 — Selangor state secretary Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi said today he was uninformed of any scheduled meeting with his Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim tomorrow.

Khusrin said he only knows of this meeting to discuss his status as the state’s top civil servant through the media.

“No such thing, no official letter, I have not been informed by the mentri besar about the meeting,” he told The Malaysian Insider.

“I only learned about it through the media, no official letter and I have not been informed,” said Khusrin.

Khalid had announced the meeting on January 27, three days after the state government failed to amend the Selangor constitution to restore the state powers in the appointment of senior civil servants.

When asked about the status of his position as the state secretary, Khusrin refused to comment.

“I will only do what is necessary,” said the former director Selangor Islamic department.

Khusrin assumed the state secretary post on January 1, after he was sworn in by the Sultan of Selangor but has yet to take his oath of secrecy before the mentri besar, a constitutional requirement before he is able to attend the state executive council meeting.

Khalid had said that the scheduled meeting with Khusrin would resolve the issue and had also planned a joint press conference.

Khalid however did not say when Khusrin would be able to take his oath of secrecy.

Khusrin’s appointment was announced by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Sidek Hassan on December 27 last year.

The appointment was however opposed by the state government as Khalid claimed that his administration was not consulted.

The state government later attempted to amend the state constitution to enable it to appoint the top three civil servants without the federal interference.

The state government however failed to get the support of two-thirds of the assemblyman to amend the constitution. - Malaysian Insider
