PETALING JAYA: A pro-opposition blogger has accused Umno of attempting to recruit foreigners to engineer a Barisan Nasional (BN) victory in the next general election, especially in Selangor.
Abdul Rahman Abdul Talib, popularly known as Tulang Besi, claimed that he was informed of this alleged plot by several Umno insiders.
“Umno wants to use the same tactic in Sabah over here in West Malaysia during the next general election,” he said in a posting on his popular Malaysia Waves blog today.
“I was told that Filipino immigrants will be used to seal victories for Umno and BN, especially in recapturing Selangor,” he added.
Selangor, once regarded a BN stronghold, fell into the hands of Pakatan Rakyat after the 2008 general election.
It is said that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is determined to reclaim the cash-cow state in the next polls, and therefore appointed himself as the state Umno chief to mastermind the invasion plan.

Meanwhile, Tulang Besi claimed that other illegal immigrants would also be used, such as Burmese, Indonesians and Bangladeshis, to tilt the ballot boxes in BN’s favour.
According to the blogger, this could explain why the Selangor Election Commission (EC) had reacted harshly to the complaints raised by PAS.
Quoting a previous news report, the blog posting stated that Pandan PAS found several inconsistencies in the electoral roll unveiled by EC this month.
Pandan PAS chief Iskandar A Samad said the incosistencies were voters were registered at addresses with no house numbers, voters registered at non-existent addresses, and voters who do not exist at the stated addresses.
“The question is, who registered them? We are disappointed with the EC officials at the Shah Alam office who flatly refused to accept our objections,” Iskandar had told a press conference then.
Last December, PAS election director Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman had also alleged that MyKads would be issued to foreigners from Indonesia and Cambodia to enable them to vote in the next general election.
However, the National Registration Department (NRD) had denied this.
In his posting, Tulang Besi said Umno’s dominance in Sabah was solely based on the votes which came from Filipino illegal immigrants.
“So what can stop them from doing the same here?” he said, adding that he hoped the allegation was not true.
Nevertheless, he urged Umno to learn from the fall of Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak and former Tunisian president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
“It all started when these dictators cheated and lied in their countries’ elections,” he said. - FMT
