Five Hindraf activist maliciously prosecuted for being members of Hindraf.

Flash News : 5pm Five Hindraf activists Navakrisna Rao, Periasamy (Kapar), K. Tamil Selvam. S.Jayathas & Loshna were prosecuted were maliciously prosecuted by racist UMNO Attorney General Gani Patail for merely being a member of Hindraf.

P. Uthayakumar submitted at the Selayang Magistrate Court that there is no Court Order declaring Hindraf illegal. Further Hindraf Makkal Sakthi had on 2.10.09 applied to the Registrar of Societies Wilayah Persekutuan which was duly acknowledged receipt by the Registrar also on 2.10.09 asking for Hindraf Makkal Sakthi to be registered.

A copy if this letter was submitted to court and the DPP (Deputy Public Prosecutor who did not have knowledge of this application but prosecuted the Hindraf activist anyway.

P. Uthayakumar submitted that this is a politically motivated charge. As a matter of principle all 5 Hindraf activists refused to plead for bail from the UMNO Courts. However the court allowed bail of 2,500 for each activists.

Uthayakumar also submitted that all 5 were acting in general public interest in defence of the defenceless Indian poor and never benefitted a cent. This their struggle is to end 54 years of UMNO racism against the Indian poor.

A group of 20 Hindraf supporters were present in court to show moral support.

As soon as the Magistrate left the court room Jayathas and the others from the dock shouted Hindraf and jangan nyaya masyarakat India 3 times.

Earlier during court proceeding Uthayakumar submitted that the interpreter should not read the charges in Tamil as the accused are already the 5^th and 6^th generation Malaysian Indians and UMNO court are outdated thereafter the charges were read in Bahasa Malaysia. - HRP
