A POLICE officer has testified that Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim was in possession of items containing DNA matching semen found on the man who accused Anwar of sodomising him.
Mr Anwar faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of having sex with his accuser, a former aide. The prosecution's case against Mr Anwar hinges on linking him to DNA found on the aide.
A government chemist testified last week that that semen sample contained the DNA profile of a man identified so far as 'Male Y'. She said the DNA of 'Male Y' was also found on a toothbrush, towel and water bottle submitted by police.
A police officer testified on Tuesday that Mr Anwar had those three items with him when he was detained in July 2008. -- AP
