Report card for GE-13 essential

Report card for GE-13 essential

The nation is vibrating with much talk of an imminent General Election. In the meantime political parties and their alligned agentries are already on their war paths beating and attempting to slay opponents with booby traps and land mines of gutter politics.

If this is not true, just take a weekly inventory of our media splashs - both traditional and the new media.

It is about time, commensurate with our claims that Malaysia is a well developing nation given its mega structures and infrastructures, that politicians and their party machineries stopped their wholesale trading in sex, porn and romp and wild allegations including race and religion issues trumpeting.

Instead they should go produce a Report Card to show to the voters.

The Report Card must show what they have contributed to make the voters live a better lived life by compoarison and where have they failed and give reasons for their failure or inability to meet the standadrds that citizens should enjoy in a fast developing country with hardly seven years to attain fully developed status.

The Report Card must cover all the four paradigms of nation building, namely the political, social, economic and environment perspectives that affect every man and women on the street and the future generations.

This Report Card will be the focus point and point of debate and evaluation for voters at all ceramahs that the politicians will hold as the election roadshow unfurls. The final judgement is through the ballot box.

If we can do this, then we can label our political maturity as one that has progressed. We can proudly proclaim to the world that we have arrived in so far as the benchmarked standards of true democarcy and civil liberties are concerned.

This will also ensure that there is no place under the sun on this land for gutter politics.

Otherwise we can continue to swim in the gutter pool of fourth-world politicking. And if that be the case, do not also demand anything from the voters.
