BERSIH- Constructive engagement

  1. In my posting under the heading “A tribute to the yellow warriors“, I had proposed that Malaysian should wear anything yellow on every Saturday and today BERSIH had proposed the same thing. Today Bersih 2.0 chief called on all Malaysians to wear something yellow every Saturday as a peaceful show of support for their 8 point demands. I supposed the English proverb; “Great Minds Think Alike, But Fools Seldom Differ” is apt. Maybe both of us are indeed fools.

  2. While this is going on, BERSIH is now looking at another rally called BERSIH 3.0.A rally once in a while is acceptable but if it is done frequently, then it loose its charm. From popularity it can become a source of hatred. If BERSIH continue this route having one rally after another, it will work against them. Sometime the threat of a rally has a far more potent implication than having a rally itself.

  3. For the reason above, I think BERSIH now should find a channel of communication to get its agenda across. The British uses its skills of talking and applying pressure at the right time in conquering one territory after another. The art should be learned and applied. Only skillful communicators can get their agenda across. When dealing with a reluctant authority, the art of talking must be complemented with tactful pressure.

  4. If I may, I hope BERSIH would now go back to the discussion table. They have made their point. It has been heard loud enough. They are now in a pole position. It is best that they run carefully to ensure to reach the finish line first. No point continuing the threat and counter threat at this stage. Better to work and focus towards getting the 8 point demand. That would be the best thing to do now. There is a time for walking and there is a time for talking. Make full use of it.
