Home Ministry senior deputy secretary-general (Registration and Immigration) Datuk Alwi Ibrahim said of the 1,548,798 persons recorded 834,233 were placed under the Registration of Legal Foreign Workers Programme, according to Bernama Online.
Sabah, a state with a huge influx of foreign workers, a total of 157,966 illegal immigrants were signed on since July 18, Alwi’s statement read today.
On top of the 336 management companies contracted to register migrants the home ministry had set-up a one-stop counter in Putrajaya to assist with technical problems.
Ministry staff and representatives from the supply companies running the 6P programme content management system are manning the counters.
