SHAH ALAM - Two non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Perkasa and Gerakan Anti-Penyelewengan Selangor (GAPS), have lodged a police report against Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, claiming he showed disrespect towards the Sultan of Selangor.
The report was made at the Section 6 police station here around 3.45pm Wednesday. Among those present was Senator Mohamad Ezam Mohamad Noor.
This came after Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, through a statement Tuesday issued by his private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir, expressed his displeasure over Khalid's claim that the formation of a syura council to resolve the controversial issue of the state Islamic Religious Department's (Jais) check on a church was done upon his advice.
Khalid's action, the NGOs claimed, amounted to treason.
"In my opinion, Khalid has committed an offence under the 1948 Sedition Act.
"I urge the Mentri Besar to be investigated, charged and punished under the Act," said GAPS chairman Hamidzun Khairuddin.
