Sivarraajh suspended for one year

The MIC Youth secretary had acted against the party's constitution over his remarks on the readmission of the sacked GAS trio, according to the MIC disciplinary committee.

PETALING JAYA: MIC Youth secretary C Sivarraajh was suspended for one year, effective today, over his accusation that the party had acted against its constitution for readmitting the Gerakan Anti-Samy Vellu (GAS) trio into the party.

He had lodged a report to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) in April regarding the readmission of the sacked trio.

In a text message to FMT today, MIC disciplinary committee chairman KS Nijhar said Sivarraajh was slapped with the suspension as the latter had accused the party’s central working committee (CWC) of acting against the constitution.

“It’s a very serious allegation. Under the Societies Act, if the accusation is proven to be true, it will have serious consequences on the party,” said Nijhar.

He added that Sivarraajh had even called for a press conference to make the accusation which he had failed to substantiate.

In April, Sivarraajh lodged a complaint with the ROS against the MIC for its decision to readmit and reinstate the three MIC CWC members who were sacked by then party supremo S Samy Vellu.

The trio – V Mugilan, G Kumar Aamaan and KP Samy – were axed by Samy Vellu for going against party interest.

In his report, Sivarraajh claimed that the party’s constitution only allowed for an expelled member to be readmitted after two years.

When contacted, Sivarraajh said he would issue a press statement on his expulsion later today.
