Grassroots activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin says the brochure will publish the original evidence regarding the ring.
Dissatisfied with the explanation surrounding the RM24 million diamond ring controversy, grassroots activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin has decided to go to town with a 16-page brochure to expose the truth behind the matter.
Badrul, better known by his moniker Chegubard, heads a youth group called Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM).
"Aside from publishing the original evidence regarding the ring, the brochure will also include the amount wasted and the extravagant lifestyle of the person pretending to be the first lady of Malaysia," said Badrul.
The event to launch the brochure, which will be held at PKR's office in Rantau, Negri Sembilan, will be officiated by top Pakatan Rakyat leaders including PKR vice-presidents Chua Jui Meng and Fuziah Salleh and DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) national secretary Anthony Loke.
In July, Badrul had claimed that the ring, ‘Natural Fancy Gray Cushion Cut Diamond' priced at RM24,458,400, was flown into the country through the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
He had also lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Penang on July 13 alleging that the costly ring was purchased by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's wife, Rosmah Mansor.
Custom confirms existence of ring
Producing a Customs Department information system printout, he said that the item was purchased through fine jewellery makers Jacob & Co based in New York and brought into Malaysia by one Jeremy Beh Sin Tee.
He added that the document showed Rosmah's name in the receiver's column of the Customs form, which he claimed to be evidence implicating her in the purchase.
Although Rosmah has vehemently denied the allegation, Najib's political enemies have been harping on the matter.
Customs has early this month confirmed the existence of the ring, but it stopped short of revealing the identity of the person who brought it into the country.
