IN THE DAILY EXPRESS and The Borneo Post's headlines today (Monday, October 3, 2011), a shocking news that a hole had claimed the life of an innocent Primary two child, aged 8 years, who accidentally fell into a small hole at pekan Inanam, Sabah culminated to a shock wave among the entire Kota Kinabalu city folks and concerned members of the public in Sabah.
The public outcries and angers as to why such a simple job as to repair a hole in the public place would be neglected until something drastic happened? The public wondered why the Inanam Assemblyman could have simply allowed such gross negligence to occur in a busy Inanam township.
DAP Sabah made a media statement that appeared in sabahkini.net a few months ago to create public awareness and requested the local authority concerned to take actions to repair a dangerous ‘death trap’ hole, situated right in front of the SASCO No.40, Lorong Jati nearby AMBANK, ADIKA Commercial complex, Keningau, Sabah but until today no positive actions had been done to repair this 'deadly trap' hole that contains sharp broken iron rods that poses dangers to predestrians, especially children walking around without realising a dangerous hole that awaits the unsuspecting victim! Members of concerned public in Keningau had also complained this matter to DAP Sabah interior to raise the issue to the local authority in Keningau.
Dr Benjamin Yapp, DAP Sabah Parliamentary Liaison Chief for Keningau and Tenom inspected the spot where the damaged hole was and took pictures for media report but unfortunately it did not get publicity to create the public awareness of the dangers, except for the excellent services offered by sabahkini.net that has been serving the public well.
DAP Sabah salutes sabahkini.net for their noble contributions to the local society. This local multi-media communication website has gained much popularity and held in high esteem from both the public and private organisations, as well as individuals for their professionalism, efficiency, transparency and integrity in voicing the people's grievances and truths without fear, reservation, restrictions or, compromise whatsoever!
DAP Sabah urged the Keningau District council to take immediate actions to repair the badly damaged hole and not to wait until another fatal accident that took the life of an innocent boy in Inanam, Sabah.
