Independent MP Ibrahim Ali (Pasir Mas) today explained the state of his drowsiness in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, which had resulted in a picture of him purportedly asleep making its rounds in cyberspace.
He said he felt drowsy after having taken cough mixture as he was unwell.
"I must have dozed off for a couple of minutes, but the picture has been published (on the Internet) as though I sleep all the time in the Dewan Rakyat.
"Even (US President) Barack Obama may have seen that picture of mine!" he said.
Ibrahim said the person who snapped the picture was devoid of capital to attack him and must really hate the Malay right-wing group Perkasa which he leads.
The MP, who raised the matter when speaking during the debate on the Postal Services Bill 2011, said that it was common knowledge that he was one of the more active members of the Dewan Rakyat.
Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Ronald Kiandee said it was wrong of the individual, whoever it was, to have snapped the picture.
